Celebs at Pebble Beach

โ€œKeep your sense of humor. Thereโ€™s enough stress in the rest of your life not to let bad shots ruin a game youโ€™re supposed to enjoy.โ€ -Amy Alcott

๐Ÿ–๏ธ The Pebble Beach Pro-Am wrapped up yesterday after it was delayed on Saturday due to high winds ๐Ÿ’จ and rain ๐ŸŒง๏ธ. This forced a Monday finish for the pros and amateur competition to be shortened to 54 holes.

๐Ÿง€ A-A-Ron Rodgers won the amateur competition and regardless of him ending up back in Green Bay or somewhere else next season it looks like we know where he'll be spending a lot of time in retirement. He was teamed up with Ben Silverman ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ and they beat out Peter Malnati ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ and Don Colleran ๐Ÿ“ฆ, the retired president and CEO of FedEx

Justin Rose ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ won the pro competition with -18 and getting his first PGA tour win since 2019, ending a four year drought. This also made him eligible for the Masters at the Augusta National โ›ณ๏ธ.

A little about the Pro-Am๐Ÿ‘‡

The Pro-Am is a tournament held annually at the Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California. Each professional golfer is paired ๐Ÿค with an amateur golfer, usually a celebrity or business figure, for the first three rounds, which has 156 amateurs and 156 pros. Itโ€™s a best-ball format, which means that each player plays his own ball. At the end of the hole they take the best score (amateurs get to use their handicaps). Since each professional is playing their own ball all the way through, those scores count for the individual pro competition, just like any other PGA tournament.

๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ’ฐ Last year, the tournament raised over $200 million for charities in Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito counties, and this year the foundation plans to raise over $18 million. The tournament includes three major events, the 3M Celebrity Challenge, the Chevron Challenge, and the Cisco Million Dollar Hole In One for Charity, with prize money going to various charities.

๐Ÿ“ธ Some Notable Amateurs:

  1. Josh Allen ๐Ÿˆ

  2. Will Arnett ๐ŸŽฌ

  3. Jason Bateman ๐ŸŽฌ

  4. Larry Fitzgerald ๐Ÿˆ

  5. A-A-Ron Rodgers ๐Ÿˆ

  6. Bill Murray ๐ŸŽฌ

  7. ScHoolboy Q ๐ŸŽค

  8. Pau Gasol ๐Ÿ€

  9. Alfonso Ribeiro ๐ŸŽฌ

  10. Macklemore ๐ŸŽค

The amateurs all use their various handicaps to even the playing field. At the end of the tournament they subtract their handicap from their total.

๐Ÿ“ A golf handicap is just a special number that helps you play against other people who are better or worse at golf than you. Itโ€™s calculated by looking at how many strokes it takes you to complete a round of golf and how hard the course was that you played on.

Swing for the Fences

Digging Basements โ›๏ธโ›ณ๏ธ

When we think to ourselves about the many ways to improve our game, we usually find ourselves having that inner monologue that consists of sayings such as "If I could just hit a damn fairway with my driver"... or "If I only had 9 beers instead of 12, I would be great at this". I get it, those are all legitimate concerns when trying to improve our swing. If you would have just denied that 10th beer, you're in the express lane to breaking 80.

As nice as it feels to be dialed in with the driver, none of that will matter if you aren't hitting any greens in regulation. You need to give those irons some love on the range as well. Think about it, there are (give or take) 7 different irons in your bag, not including wedges. It's probably important that you know how to use at least a few ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ. One of the most common issues amateurs struggle with is making good contact with the ball, in particular hitting the ball first before the ground. Check out the videos below that will help you put those issues to bed.

Nobody wants to be the guy above. As a wise man once said - "You're not that guy pal, trust me. You're not that guy!"

Course of the Day

Pebble Beach Golf Links

๐Ÿ– Pebble Beach Golf Links, Pebble Beach, California, US

Pebble Beach Golf Links, which is where the Pro Am was just held, is known for its stunning coastal views and challenging holes. It has held numerous high profile golf events, including the U.S. Open Championship five times.

Itโ€™s a public course but itโ€™s extremely hard to get a tee time. The rates are already high and are increasing to a whopping $625๐Ÿ’ฐon April 1st (not for an April Fools joke)! If you want to book a tee time, despite potentially skipping the college fund for the kids (they will probably be fine) then your best bet is to obtain golf reservation privileges by staying at the resort, where rates start at about $1,000 per night ๐Ÿ’ธ.

Definitely a ๐Ÿชฃ bucket list course where you wouldn't mind shooting 100 for the day, and instead enjoy just being there and taking in the views.

19th Hole

Most of us I am sure at some point have dreamed of owning our own golf course, preferably in our own backyard, all to ourselves... and of course with unlimited bev carts. Or even having a man cave that includes a putting green and the dopest simulator that money can buy ๐Ÿ’ฐ. Unfortunately, that isnโ€™t in the cards for most of us ๐Ÿ˜•. But that doesnโ€™t mean we canโ€™t dream big!

Thatโ€™s where AI comes in. Unless you have been living under a rock the past couple of years, you know that AI has gained some popularity as of late. Itโ€™s amazing the things it can do, from generating cool avatars of yourself to literally writing college papers ๐Ÿ“ (donโ€™t do that kids).

We here at Mulligan Report wanted to have some fun and messed around with some AI to generate cool golf cart concepts we would like to see in our backyard oasis. Enjoy the photos and of course, play more golf ๐Ÿ˜Ž
